Accommodating with care

The exhibition of models in the lobby of the Hotel Alma shows a selection of the best European architecture related to accommodation. A unique set of works carefully selected by the juries of several editions of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award, which every two years chooses the works of European architecture that best define the current times.

Whether one is staying at Hotel Alma, meeting friends there, or having a moment on his own, the hotel’s attitude towards caring about people defines one’s experience. Guests have the opportunity to experience the culture of the place and try, feel, discover, and relax. Architecture plays an essential role in this experience and all details need to be thought about and decided with precision to achieve well-being.

The unique group of works presented in this exhibition have been built all over Europe and carefully chosen by leading architects such as Wiel Arets, Stephen Bates, Gonçalo Byrne, Pedro Gadanho, Antón García-Abril, Louisa Hutton, Dominique Jakob, Margarita Jover, Lene Tranberg, Peter L. Wilson, and Cino Zucchi, among others. They have been members of the juries of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture / Mies van der Rohe Awards who, every two years, choose those works of architecture that better define the present moment.

From cities to rural and natural sites, the quality of the places where we stay for a limited space of time is as important as the quality of the places where we live permanently.

The EUmies Awards are organised by Fundació Mies van der Rohe with the support of Creative Europe.
