Architecture in Play — EUmies Awards 2026
A deck of architecture: playing, learning, connecting
The EUmies Awards card deck brings together the 2 winners, the 5 finalists and the 33 shortlisted works of the 2026 edition, alongside key information about the Prize and its jury. Designed as a playable object, it is also conceived as a tool for communication, learning and engagement.
Each card features a project and connects, through QR codes, to extended information on the EUmies Awards web, enabling users to explore the buildings, the architects and the contexts behind them.

More than a game
The deck operates on multiple levels:
- As a game, it invites curiosity, interaction and discovery through play.
- As a presentation tool, it offers a tangible and accessible way to introduce the EUmies Awards in meetings, exhibitions and conversations with diverse stakeholders.
- As an educational resource, it opens a gateway to contemporary European architecture for wider audiences, including students and non-specialists.
By combining images, short texts and digital access, the cards transform complex architectural knowledge into something approachable, intuitive and shareable.
Baukultur and public engagement
Aligned with the European Commission’s commitment to Baukultur, the deck promotes a broader understanding of the built environment as a shared cultural responsibility. It encourages dialogue about architecture not only among professionals, but also with citizens of all ages.
The format makes it particularly suitable for:
- schools and educational settings (including language learning in English),
- workshops with young people,
- informal learning environments where architecture is rarely present.
Through play, users can engage with themes such as reuse, sustainability, public space or social impact — all central to contemporary architectural practice.
An open tool
The EUmies Awards card deck is not only a representation of the Prize, but an invitation to engage with contemporary architecture in a different way: through play, curiosity and shared experience.
