Chronicle from Europe: Poland in the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture / Mies van der Rohe Awards
May 12, 2026
June 7, 2026
Curated by Marcin Szczelina (Architecture Snob) and Ivan Blasi (Fundació Mies van der Rohe), the exhibition Chronicle from Europe: Poland in the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture / Mies van der Rohe Awards is a look at contemporary Polish architecture in the European context.
The exhibition, open until June 7, 2026, updates the project presented in Katowice and Warsaw in 2019, curated by Marcin Szczelina and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, and brings together all Polish projects nominated for the Prize since 1996.

Through photographs, drawings, and videos, it presents the evolution of an architecture shaped by profound political, social, and economic transformations that have redefined Poland’s cities and built landscape in recent decades.
From the first nominations to milestones such as the award to the Szczecin Philharmonic in 2015 (Barozzi Veiga) or the Katyn Museum, a finalist in 2017 (BBGK Architects with Jerzy Kalina), the exhibition offers a continuous reading of Poland’s role within the European architectural scene.
An architecture that reflects participation, transformation, and a growing international presence.
The opening will take place in the context of the EUmies Awards Days and guests are welcome to breakfast at 10:30 at the Casa de l’Arquitectura:
12 May – Casa de l’Arquitectura (Carrer Rosselló 87-91, Barcelona)
10:30 – Opening of the exhibition “Chronicle from Europe: Poland in the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture / Mies van der Rohe Awards” with Instituto Polaco de Cultura and the General Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Barcelona
