2024 Collaborators

The European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture / Mies van der Rohe Awards is possible because of the confidence and the support of the European Commission – Creative Europe programme – and the Barcelona City Council – Ecology, Urban Planning and Mobility-Architecture, Landscape and Heritage. For 38 years they have been travelling partners in the construction of this cross-cutting project.

We are truly thankful to Mrs. Iliana Ivanova, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mrs. Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen, Directorate- General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture – European Commission, Mrs. Sabine Verheyen, Member of the European Parliament, Chairwoman of the Committee on Culture and Education, Mr. Jaume Collboni, Mayor of Barcelona and Mrs. Laia Bonet, President of Fundació Mies van der Rohe.

We would like to thank the people who saw us through the whole 2024 process; to all those who provided support, talked things over, read, wrote, offered comments, allowed us to quote their remarks and assisted in the filming, writing, editing, proofreading and design.

We would like to express our gratitude to those who stand with us day after day and who have supported and encouraged us despite all the time it took us away from them.

A special gratitude to the jury members with whom we have had many intense discussions throughout our many days together: Frédéric Druot, Paris/Bordeaux, Martin Braathen, Oslo, Pippo Ciorra, Rome, Tinatin Gurgenidze, Tbilisi/Berlin, Adriana Krnáčová, Prague, Sala Makumbundu, Luxembourg, Hrvoje Njiric, Zagreb.

We want to thank all the people in the architects’ offices and the experts for their valuable collaboration. A special mention to Gustav Düsing, Max Hacke, Elena Orte, Guillermo Sevillano, Geir Brendeland, Olav Kristoffersen, Thomas Skinnemoen, Tim Lucas, Ian Shepherd, Andrés Jaque, Roberto González, Robert Konieczny, Michał Lisiński, Dorota Skora, Tadeuš Goryczka, Marek Golab-Sieling, Agnieszka Wolny-Grabowska, Krzysztof Kobiela, Adrianna Wycisło, Mateusz Białek, Jakub Bilan, Wojciech Fudala, Katarzyna Kuzior, Damian Kuna, Jakub Pielecha, Magdalena Orzeł-Rurańska, Elżbieta Siwiec, Anna Szewczyk, Kinga Wojtanowska, Karol Knap, Amelia Tavella, Alice Kopp, Joao Branco and Paula del Río, for their invaluable support and energy in providing us with texts, images, stories and all kinds of documents and knowhow.

The clients of the winning and finalist works have also been of crucial assistance for the documentation of their projects: Torsten Markgrafe, Bettina Nohren, Tatjana Schneider and the students and people from TU Braunschweig; Neus Castellano, Director of the Gabriel García Márquez library and the whole team; the PLATO Gallery team and the City of Ostrava; Lena Sjostrand, Mats Persson and White Arkitekter from Lund; Collectivitá de Corse/Cullettivitá di Corsica and the Village of Sainte-Lucie-de-Tallano/Santa Lucía d’Attallá; Eva Martín, Director of the Colegio Reggio and its professors, students and staff; and the people from the villages of Arganil and Piodao.

We would like to thank James Payne, Peter Cachola Schmal, Bartosz Haduch, Michał Haduch, Pedro Baía, Oliver Wainwright, Josep Lluís Blàzquez and Nina Bouraoui for their wonderful insightful texts. The photographers have provided us with special interpretations of architecture and we are very thankful for their work.

We are grateful to the teams of fantastic people working in those companies who have supported this project for a long time and those that have recently joined it.

Last and not least: we apologise to all those who have been with us over the course of these last months and whose names we have failed to mention.
